🚩 General Updates







  *   Reserving Bolz Hall Conference Rooms:  The Bolz Hall conference rooms on the 4th floor are now able to be reserved.  These include the Undergraduate Conference Room (BO 426) and the Graduate Conference Room (BO 432).  Please follow the instructions for how to reserve:
     *   Option 1 (Preferred)
        *   Open Outlook and look for the appropriate calendar for your request:
           *   +ENG BO 426 Undergraduate Conference Room
           *   +ENG BO 432 Graduate Conference Room
        *   Verify that the date and time you are requesting is available
        *   Create a calendar invite for the date and time of your reservation, and invite the corresponding room
        *   Our staff will review the request and either approve it, or contact you with alternative options.  Please allow at least 2-3 business days to accommodate your request
        *   You can view the availability of the room through Outlook, and a calendar will be posted outside each space
     *   Option 2
        *   Email the student assistants (ENG-CEGE-Student-Advising at osu.edu<mailto:ENG-CEGE-Student-Advising at osu.edu>) with several options for dates and times
        *   They will schedule the room, and send you a calendar invite
  *   COVID-related Updates
     *   October 15: Deadline to report at least your first vaccine dose to the Oct. 15 deadline
     *   November 15: Deadline to complete second dose of vaccine (for those having a two-dose vaccine)

  *   Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service Program<https://www.smartscholarship.org/smart?utm_source=MDRe1&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=SMART2022> – Applications are now open and are due December 1.  SMART offers students pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s or Ph.D. in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields an opportunity to receive a full scholarship and guaranteed civilian employment with the Department of Defense upon degree completion.  SMART offers students the chance to pursue their passion in STEM while supporting the mission of the Department of Defense.

  *   2021 Alumni Grants for Graduate Research and Scholarship (AGGRS)<https://gradsch.osu.edu/alumni-grants-graduate-research-and-scholarship> – Nominations are now open and are due Sept 30, 2021.  The Graduate School’s Alumni Grants for Graduate Research and Scholarship (AGGRS) Program provides small grants up to $5,000 to support the research and scholarship of doctoral or terminal master’s degree candidates for their dissertations or theses.
  *   Graduate Associate Teaching Award (GATA)<https://gradsch.osu.edu/graduate-associate-teaching-award-gata> – Nominations are now open and are due Nov 19.  The Graduate Associate Teaching Award is Ohio State’s highest recognition of the exceptional teaching provided by graduate students serving as Graduate Teaching Associates.  Any Ohio State student (undergraduate, graduate, or professional), faculty, or staff member may nominate a GTA.  Graduate students are also encouraged to nominate themselves.
  *   2021 Presidential Fellowship Competition<https://gradsch.osu.edu/presidential-fellowship> – Nominations are now open and are due Oct 15. Presidential Fellowships recognize outstanding scholarly accomplishments and potential of graduate students entering the final phase of their dissertation research or terminal degree project.

The program targets graduate students who are in the dissertation phase or are in postdoctoral studies.  The application period is September 1st – November 1st. The Child Care Access Means Parents in School Program, authorized by the Higher Education Act and administered by the U.S. Department of Education, supports the participation of low-income parents in postsecondary education through the provision of quality licensed, nationally accredited campus or community childcare services for children six weeks to 12 years old. CCAMPIS provides priority scheduling, evening childcare, life skills coaching, and referrals to university and community resources.
