Hello CBEC!

It’s once again time for what’s become a favorite in our department: the 3rd annual CEGC Halloween party! Please read this message in its entirety as we’ve tried our best to put a special twist on the event this year.

First off, as for time and place: because of various time conflicts on weekends surrounding Halloween, the party will be on FRIDAY, October 25th, from 6-10 PM in CBEC 110/120. All faculty, staff, and students are invited—as well as partners and family members. That said, we need to know what to plan for. If you would like to attend, please fill out THIS FORM.<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=NlYJ61IQlUiVKx_53x0RIQNZ8d0xxqZJvrjxmNwfCzdUNU5JUjk5MFo4MzlaVVhJSE1CV0pLUkRYVi4u> We will be ordering food for all from Lavash!

What more could you want out of Halloween this year? Well, in case you haven’t had enough, we plan to sponsor a LAB DECORATING CONTEST, complete with trick-or-treating between offices, to be held in the afternoon the same day. Details are as follows:

  *
Labs can sign up using THIS FORM<https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=NlYJ61IQlUiVKx_53x0RIQNZ8d0xxqZJvrjxmNwfCzdUNlFRN0xYR0U4VlJESlFMSTFONkJYS0YyVS4u>. Please sign up by Friday,
  * All labs who participate will be placed on a list, to be sent to the department in advance. Labs will be expected to welcome visitors during a specified time window on the 25th, to decorate their offices to fit the occasion, and to hand out candy to visitors.
  * CEGC will create an online voting system and announce winners (with prizes!) at the party that evening.
  * CEGC believes that you should not be required to spend your own money to participate. So, we plan on using the funds we have left over in our budget for this event to help fund the lab decorating contest for the rest of you. We will be organizing a trip to purchase decorations and candy (tentatively for Monday, October 21st) that all are welcome to join. For those unable, we will also accept wish lists and plan on buying some things in bulk (and if we have leftovers, then we just have more to make our party look great later!).

I’ve attached a presentation made by last year’s CEGC to this email that goes over lots of the details if you’re unfamiliar with the holiday (apparently Outlook REALLY doesn't like me sending out PowerPoint files to the student list and it kicked this back on my first try. Apologies if you get two emails once again, though I don't think that's the case). Whether you’ve celebrated Halloween in the past or not, I hope to see you (and hopefully your best costume!) at this year’s party!
