[Cbe-grads] CBEC Nitrogen outages

I wanted to send an update for the nitrogen outages in CBEC.



Change of date for South Side meter outage



South meter- south side of building (south basement, 240/260, 340/360, 440/460)

- 1/19 pre-fab

- 1/22 meter install (4hr outage 8am-noon)

- remote sensor install (worked into schedule)



I received a few questions and wanted to pass on more information.



  *   test your glove box/ equipment and see how long it can stay pressurized. Will it last 4 to 6 hours depending on the outage?



  *   When the outage occurs pressure in the nitrogen lines will drop quickly



  *   Close all nitrogen valves at the equipment.



  *   Do not use gloveboxes or instruments that require nitrogen.



  *   Order and install a nitrogen tank for critical equipment.



  *   During work, air can get into the nitrogen line. Tt is recommended to disconnect the lines to equipment, and pure for a few seconds, and reconnect. Contractors will be using med gas installation protocols; we just want to be very careful with highly sensitive equipment.



The main valve of each floor will be turned off at 8am each day of the outage. After the work is complete, the valves will be turned back on. I will also send out an email when the outage is complete for the day.

Hello,

We are installing new nitrogen meters in the basement of CBEC. During this time there will be outages throughout the building. This will impact all equipment that is plumbed into house nitrogen. Highlighted below are dates when the outages will take place and the areas that will be affected. Please note the areas impacted by the different outages.


Whole building meter
- 1/16 meter replacement (no outage required)
- 1/17 to 1/18 remote sensor install

South meter- south side of building (south basement, 240/260, 340/360, 440/460)
- 1/19 pre-fab
- 1/20 meter install (4hr outage 8am-noon)
- 1/21 to 1/22 remote sensor install

North Meter- north side of building (North basement (RSS/NMR) 170/190, 270/290, 370/390, 470/490)
- 1/23 pre-fab
- 1/24 to 1/25 071 new feed rough-in (will need access to 071)
- 1/26 meter install/071 switchover (6hr outage 8am-2pm)
- 1/29 to 1/30 remote sensor install

090/092 meter NMR facility only
- 1/31 pre-fab
- 2/1 meter install (4hr outage 8am-noon)
- 2/2 remote sensor install

Please note that there will be work in the halls before and after each meter install.
