Abstract

Various peculiar material behaviors are observed. Ag-5wt.%Sb solder, with a melting point of 240°C (ranging from 245°C to 240°C), melts at 230°C. Unexpected Ag and Cu whiskers form and grow rapidly in annealed Ag-Cu-Te alloys. The reaction rates in Sn-Pb/Fe are faster at lower temperatures. These peculiar behaviors can be understood by examining their respective phase diagrams.
