Hi Lisa,

Could you please pass this on to Angela, this is a nice opportunity for grad students and postdocs to participate in a seminar series held at UW! It's open to people from various departments, not just chemical engineering.

------------------

I am reaching out to ask you to invite top graduate students and postdocs to apply for my department's annual Distinguished Young Scholars Seminar series hosted by the University of Washington in Seattle. This summer seminar provides an opportunity to top early-career chemical and molecular engineers, and those in related fields, to present an hour-long research seminar and gain critical interviewing skills. We view it as a service to the profession and an opportunity for our graduate students and postdocs to see the best of the best in their peer group. Due to COVID-19, DYSS will be held entirely virtual this year, but will still provide the same opportunities as previous years, including a seminar, networking, and meetings with UW faculty and students.

I ask you to pass on this opportunity to graduate students and postdocs that you feel would be interested and encourage them to apply as soon as possible. The selection committee is particularly hopeful to attract a diverse set of applicants who represent a wide variety of personal and professional backgrounds. Please encourage women and other underrepresented persons in chemical engineering and molecular engineering and sciences to apply for this opportunity and note that there is no limit to the number of applications from any particular department.

The deadline for submissions is May 8th, 2020. Please let them know this is a great professional development opportunity that provides a leg-up for the autumn job search. The top speaker of the series (as judged by the audience of UW chemical engineering and molecular engineering and sciences graduate students) will receive a $500.00 prize.
