Chapter 15 end-of-chapter problem 15.28 asks you to add two
eqns to get a third and determine the Kp given Kc values for
the two given eqns. The final eqn is:
N2(g) + O2(g) + Br2(g) ----> 2 NOBr(g)
However, the solutions manual gives the Kc for the final
equation and does not convert it to Kp. The answer of
9.523 x 10^-31 is correct for the Kc value. (9.5 x 10^-31 to
the correct # of s.f.).
To get Kp you need to use the eqn,
Kp = Kc * (RT)^(delta n)
The (delta n) is the change in moles of gas. For this question
it would 2 - 3 = -1
Kp = Kc * (RT)^(-1) = (9.523 x 10^-31)*{(0.0821)(298)}^(-1)
Kp = 3.89 x 10^-32
