I'm holding a review for MT3, Tuesday, 4/11, 5:30-7:30 PM in 1000 MP
(lecture room).
Look at the Exams link on my personal class webpages. There's useful
information there. The information page you'll get is there as well as at
my "Practice Exams" link and the Practice Exams module in Carmen.
Also, there's a module in Carmen, "Exams". There are several links there
about preparing your iPad for the exam, midterm procedures and an info
sheet about what happens if you forget your iPad (or it's not charged),
don't have an ID, etc. Look at the links there. Please check to make sure
you've got everything set up correctly (eduroam and the LockDown
browser works), even if everything worked for the other midterms.
There's Mastering due Sunday night for 20.6 and Monday night
for credit covering 20.7-20.9.
I would suggest taking the sample quizzes for quizzes 8, 9 and 10 (look
at the solutions afterward). It would be best to do this before taking a
practice exam. Remember, Quiz 10 will be Monday, 7-10 PM. After
10 PM Monday I will put up the quiz 10 sample quiz and the solutions.
The solutions to quiz 8, (titrations and Ksp) are quite extensive, especially
for the titration questions. When it comes to the Ksp material be more
concerned with Ksp itself (how to write it for a rxn and relate things in
the expression, calculate molar solubility) and common-ion calculations.
Also, understand qualitatively how solubility is affected by common-ion
affects, changes in pH, complex-ion formation, etc. (i.e. how would
adding a common-ion affect the solubility, how would adding an ion
that forms a complex-ion with the metal affect the solubility, etc.).
I also suggest taking at least one practice exam before the review. The
EOC Exam Prep questions are also in Mastering (NOT FOR CREDIT)
for practice. These are the same as the ones at the end-of-the chapter
so you can do them either from Mastering or the eText. I believe the ones
in Mastering have more feedback. While there is a "due" date of Tuesday
night you can do them after the due date.
Send your questions by Mon. night so I can prepare things before the review.
Don't wait until Tue to send them since Tue is a busy day for me with office
hours and both 1220 lectures.
I know some people can't make this. I will attempt to use Zoom to record the
review but it won't be live. I can't make any promises as to the quality. I will
put it on Carmen Tues night after the review.
I won't be doing office hours Tue night since I'll be at the review and it will
go until at least 7:30 or a little longer.
Dr. Nguyen will be holding a review Monday, April 10, 8:05-10 PM in
1000 McPherson. It will also be in Zoom, the link below. It is a webinar and
you need to use the password below the link. The following is copied from the
e-mail she sent to her students and other instructors. Please be respectful
and keep noise to a minimum. The problem is it conflicts with our quiz on
Monday. You could take our quiz at 7 PM and then make her review.
If you can't make it you can still use her packet of problems and we can cover
some of those questions during our review. I'm not sure they're necessary
since there are three practice exams and our quizzes you can study from but
they can't hurt if you have the time.

* For groups of students who wish to have engaging discussions with one another during the session, Dr.N suggests Zooming into the session from one of the first floor McPherson classrooms. All the classrooms will be open in the evening. Each classroom has a podium computer you can log into and project to a screen with audio.
* If you decide to attend in-person, please keep chatting to a minimum so all 1220 students can benefit from the session.
You are invited to a CarmenZoom webinar.
When: Apr 10, 2023 08:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Topic: Chem 1220 Midterm 3 Review session with Dr.N in MP1000

I urge all students to take advantage of the chat feature in this webinar because you will be unable to unmute yourself to talk to me directly. Please direct all questions to ALL participants (not just the host), so everyone can benefit from questions asked.
If you are unable to attend the live review via Zoom or in person, the recording to the review session with links to the handout and key will be linked in the description and posted on my youtube channel as well as posted to this page in the evening.
