MWF Lectures: The exam is 7:15 PM tonight, Monday, in 100 Independence Hall. We plan on
starting it at 7:15 so get there by 7 PM if possible. Remember we are testing with another lecture
section. Please do not sit in the sections at the back of the room unless you'll be using a laptop.
The TA will direct you where to sit.
TR Lectures: The exam is 3:55 PM Tuesday, tomorrow, during the lecture time in 1000 McPherson.
We plan on starting it at 3:55 so get there by 3:40 PM if possible. We're reserving the back rows
on the main floor and balcony for people with laptops.
I plan on being there. Good luck on the exam just in case I'm not.
The midterm is mostly multiple-choice questions. There are some numeric (calculation type)
fill-in-the blank questions for which you work out the answer and type it in. Do NOT use scientific
notation. The OSU version of Canvas (Carmen) doesn't use sci. not. Do NOT use units for these
questions in the answers, Follow whatever directions are there for the question. The questions
will likely tell you how many decimal places to use. Be careful typing the number in and check the
number before clicking on the Next button. There are also dropdown type questions and maybe
some fill-in-the blank. It's pretty much the types of questions you've seen on the quizzes and
midterm 1.
Take a break at least 1 hour before the exam and relax. Stay calm and don't let it throw you if you
can't answer a question. You get about 2.6 minutes per question on average. Some will take more
time and some will take less. You can't spend too much time on a question. If it's a multiple-choice
calculation question and you don't get an answer that's there just redo the calculation being more
careful. If you get the same answer take a quick look to see if you can find your mistake. If not and
you've already spent a fair amount of time on the question you may just have to take a guess and
move on. Remember, you can move backward in the exam, so time permitting you can go back to
questions you weren't sure about. Make sure you mark them down on your scratch paper so you
remember which ones they were. Do NOT leave any question unanswered before submitting the
exam, at t least take a guess.
Remember to bring your OSU ID and an allowed calculator (and your testing device of course).
To get more detailed information on preparing your device and midterm procedures go to the
announcement about midterm 2 in Carmen if you haven't already done so. For a refresher on
midterm procedures click on the "this announcement" link under "Supplementary Materials".
