I received the following e-mail based on what I sent about lecture coverage
in a previous e-mail. We've finished 13.1-13.4 and are in 13.5 in both lecture
sections.

Hello Dr. Zellmer,
I am a student in your Chemistry 1220 morning lecture course. I wanted to inquire
about the various emails you have sent out. The most recent one to be exact. With
the various technology issues with access codes, and confusion from many of us not knowing
what mastering we need to complete, is it still expected for us to have 13.1-13.4 along with
EOC's done by Sunday? I know personally, I have been trying to read all the syllabus and
required emails for this course and just got my book up and running and I am already
overwhelmed. It is not about keeping up because I am doing that with this just being the first
week, but on top of trying to review lectures along with the last minute publishing of the class
this seems to be a little much and I along with several other classmates are confused. If you
wouldn't mind clarifying what point we should be at right now because I am working on
several things and that still doesn't seem to be enough or correct. Thank you.

What I sent is unrelated to the problems with Mastering. There's no MC homework
due for these sections until next Friday. I'm trying to make sure everyone knows
what was covered and what will be covered and stays on task. The worst thing you
can do in this course is fall behind. If you fall too far behind it will be almost impossible
to get caught up. If you haven't done any of this reading and some of the EOC problems
for the sections we covered this week you are behind. Generally speaking, you want
to finish the material covered in one lecture before the subsequent lecture. If you don't,
and I'm covering something new for which you need to understand the material from
the previous lecture, you will be quite lost with the new material I'm talking about. Plus,
you want to be working every single day and not leave too much for a
single day. The more you do in one day the harder it is to learn it and remember it.

I've sent out information about EOC problems and Mastering and how to use each
and how they tie in. I've held the "How to Study/Learn" sessions.

Remember, I'm just giving you the ideal things to do and give you an idea of what
you should be doing and when. The actual application of what I'm telling you is
up to you and will vary from day to day and student to student. I know some of
you may be a little behind right now due to the confusion of starting the semester
and any Mastering problems. It may take you through the weekend to get totally
caught up but you should get done whatever you can before Tuesday.

I'm a bit behind myself because of COVID problems and all the e-mails about
other things. I'm getting a couple of dozen or more a day.
