We got into section 23.1 on Monday. I will finish it on Wed. We will
likely get into at least 23.4 and maybe 23.5. Section 23.4 is rather
important, not just for 1220 but organic and biological chemistry.
We are NOT covering nomenclature (naming) in section 23.4. You
may still want to at least read it to get an idea of how these complexes
are named. There are some EOC exercises and maybe Mastering
which will use names. I will not do so on the final exam (i.e. I will NOT
give you the name of a compound in a question and expect you
to know what it is). You will need to understand what the formulas
mean for these complexes and complex ions. You should be able to
identify ligands by name. These are in 23.3. I'll be going over these
in lecture.
