I've received a few questions about MT1. Here's some preliminary info.
1) If you have an in-person lab the night of the exam the office will be letting you
know what you will be doing about the exam. I'm not sure exactly when they'll
be sending the info but certainly by next week. There is information about this
in the "Midterm Make-up Policy and Request Form" submodule in the "Make-up
Exams" module in Carmen.
2) There will be a review the Sunday before the midterm, Feb. 7, 2-4 PM via Zoom.
Yes, I will be recording it for people who can't make it. I'll be sending out more
information about this next week.
3) There will be at least one practice exam. That is not yet available. There is no
reason for it to be right now as we have not finished the material. You're not
suppose to use it as a "study guide". You're suppose to finish preparing for the
exam and then take the practice exam(s) as if they're the real deal, timing
yourself. That's the best way to find out how well you know the material and if
you can get through it in the time allotted. You then use this to zero in on what
you are still having trouble with and don't waste time going back over things you
already know.
Sometime next week I'll publish the information about the practice exam in Carmen
at the "Practice Exams" module. I'll also put some comments about the practice
exams and the exam on my class web page.
Don't contact the main Chemistry Undergrad office about this.
