I've been sending additional e-mails concerning MasteringChemistry
homework and
how I'm setting things up and how you should use it. Here's some info
about Ch 13
and Ch 14 MC material. Next week's quiz will cover Ch 13 and 14.1-14.3.
NOT for Credit:
There are Sample Exercises throughout the chapter which you should
attempt as
you're studying each section. These are followed by two practice
exercises. The
answers to Practice Exercise 2 are in the back of the book, after the
answers to the
"Go Figure" questions in the reading. There are no answers to PE 1.
I've set up
something called "Ch 13 Practice Exercise 1" set. These are *NOT* for
credit.
These are simply there to allow you to find the answers if you choose to
do PE 1.
There's also the Dynamic Study Modules (DSM) which I've made available
if you feel
you need more practice. They are *NOT* for credit. These are
randomized by design.
They tend to be easier than the "Tutorials" and "Homework Review" and
often the
textbook problems.
Don't worry about due dates for the above since they're not for credit.
You can
always access them.
*For Credit:*
*The following are for credit.* *These apply****to the material for quiz
1.*
Tutorials (generally due the night before the quiz). Homework Review
(generally
due the Sat. after the quiz, though doing them before the quiz and help).
The tutorials provide hints but there is a minimal penalty of 2% for
each hint. There's a
penalty of 3% for incorrect answers. This is to keep you from simply
guessing until you get
the right answer. The same applies to incorrect answers for the
"Homework Review"
problems. The "Tutorials" problems have hints and feedback. Some of
the "Homework
Review" problems have feedback. I've tried to arrange them so they're
mostly in the
order of the sections in the chapters.
The *Tutorials *are all due by *11:59 PM Wed, June 12th*. There's a lot
so you probably
want to start these before Wed. (Tue, maybe Mon). I've split them up.
Ch 13a (13.2, 13.4) Tutorials
Ch 13b (13.1) Tutorials
Ch 13c (13.3) Tutorials
Ch 13d (13.5, 13.6) Tutorials
Ch 14a (14.1-14.3) Tutorials
The *Homework Reviews *are all due by *11:59 PM Sat, June 15th*.
There's a lot so you
probably want to start these before Sat. I've split them up similar to
the tutorials.
Ch 13a (13.2, 13.4) Homework Review
Ch 13b (13.1, 13.3) Homework Review
Ch 13c (13.5, 13.6) Homework Review
Ch 14a (14.1-14.3) Homework Review
Honestly, I feel if you do all the "assigned" textbook problems and then
do some more
as a review (the on-line homework "Tutorials" and "Homework Review"
problems) and
do these properly (on your own and understand them) you should be okay.
This of course
also includes having critically analyzed the material in the textbook
and making sure you
understand it.
