If you have a conflict between our first midterm (6:00-7:15 PM,
Wed., Sept. 19) and another class or exam you need to sign up
on Carmen by Sunday, Sept 9.  I mentioned this in class this
week.  It's mentioned in the syllabus and on Carmen.  Go
to "Modules" and then the "Exams" module.  You'll see
"Exam Attendance Policy".  Follow the directions in that link.

This is for an ALTERNATE exam and not the make-up.
You should be taking it the day of the regularly scheduled exam
if possible and that option is given.  If not, there should be alternate
times to choose from.

You will need to provide a copy of your class schedule showing
the conflicts. There's instructions for supplying this.

There is a 15% penalty if your excuse is not considered a valid
excuse, as pointed out at the link on Carmen. You are not
suppose to take an alternate exam unless you have a class
conflict with our regularly scheduled exam time.  If you take it
at a different time just because you don't feel like taking it at 6 PM
this may not be considered a valid excuse.

Make-up exams are for those who don't sign up in time for an
alternate exam or miss the exam for a valid reason.  This is also
explained on Carmen.  If you miss the exam you must sign
up on Carmen for a make-up.  There's a deadline for doing this
as well and a deadline for actually taking the make-up exam.
Make-up exams can be more difficult since you will have had
more time to study for it.  This does not apply to the alternate
exam.
