If you have a conflict between our first midterm (7:00-8:15PM,
Tue., Sept. 19) and another class or exam you need to sign up
on Carmen 11:59 PM *tonight*. I mentioned this in class
last week. It's mentioned in the syllabus and on Carmen. Go
to "Modules" and then the "Introduction" module. You'll see
"Exam Attendance Policy".
This is for the ALTERNATE exam and not the make-up.
The alternate exam is given at three different times on the
day of the exam. You should be taking it the day of the
regularly scheduled exam. If you have other classes scheduled
during our exam time and all the possible alternate times on
Tue. you could take it on Mon.
You will need to upload a copy of your class schedule showing
the conflicts.
There is a 15% penalty if your excuse is not considered a valid
excuse, as pointed out at the link on Carmen. You are not
suppose to take an alternate exam unless you have a class
conflict with our regularly scheduled exam time. If you do
this may not be considered a valid excuse.
Make-up exams are for those who don't sign up in time for an
alternate exam or miss the exam for a valid reason. This is also
explained on Carmen. If you miss the exam you must sign
up on Carmen for a make-up. There's a deadline for doing this
as well and a deadline for actually taking the make-up exam.
Make-up exams can be more difficult since you will have had
more time to study for it. This does not apply to the alternate
exam.
