Mandatory Quizzes - Are you having problems?

I always get a lot of questions about the COAM and Syllabus
quizzes in terms of people thinking they've gotten them
all correct, not seeing the correct number of questions, etc.
I'm also seeing some problems with mainly the questions
concerning calculators.

These quizzes are set up to show you the questions you got
CORRECT after you've submitted your quiz. The COAM
quiz has 12 questions and the Syllabus quiz has 14. If you
don't see that number of questions after submitting each
quiz, that means you've missed one. You can figure out
which one(s) you missed by looking at the question numbers
carefully in the submissions screen to see which are missing.
Those are the ones you missed.

If you aren't sure, look at your score. If they aren't listed
as 12/12 for the COAM quiz and 14/14 for the Syllabus quiz,
you've missed questions. If you don't have 100% you will
need to take them again until you do. Even when you have
100% on both quizzes, Carmen will still state you have quizzes
to take until the deadline has passed (because you have
unlimited attempts). Don't worry about this as long as you are
sure you have 100%.

I always see many people have problems with question #12 on
the COAM (academic misconduct) quiz and sometimes with
#1 on the Syllabus quiz. These questions concern our calculator
policy.

The answer to these questions is actually on the first page of the
syllabus. You can find the syllabus by going to the class web page
(my page - see the welcome e-mail I sent) or Content tab in Carmen.
You will also see two links on Carmen and one on my home page
concerning the calculator policy. The one under "Introduction" on the
Content tab on Carmen shows some pictorial examples. The other
link on Carmen is the same as the one on my home page. You MUST
use one of the allowed calculators when taking quizzes or exams or
take the quiz or exam without a calculator. Note the numerals in the
calculator "names". Your calculator must have these numerals in the
name. For example, a TI must have the numerals "30" in the name.
A TI-36 would NOT be allowed. We won't even allow simple calculators,
like bank calculators, if they aren't on the allowed list. We require
very specific calculators.

Also, note for question #12 on the COAM (academic misconduct)
quiz it tells you to choose ALL correct answers. There may be more
than one correct answer and you need to pick all the correct answers
to get credit for this question.
