I hope you are having a great Spring Break! Starting on Monday, we are doing Exp 7.

<b><u>Computers</u></b><br>
<br>
Please bring a laptop to lab for <span class="il">exp</span> <span class="il">7</span>, if you have one. If you don't have one don't worry. Your TA will put you in groups of two with someone who does.
<br>
<br>
It will help for you to download the application before lab. The link and help for the
<span class="il">exp</span> can be found at Dr. Zellmer's "Laboratory" link on his web page. The simulation is free to download. The link is:

The following is from the authors of the program if you are having problems getting it to work:

<p><i>Troubleshooting PhET simulations: </i>If a student has trouble with a simulation it is probably related to Java. Brand new laptops won't have Java installed yet if the student got their computer recently and hasn't needed to use Java for anything else
online, they just might not have installed it. Instructions for installing Java can be found here (the installation is very easy):</p>

Sometimes people have trouble with Apple products. Since I don't have one, I can't give you specific instructions, but you have to change your security settings to allow the download of Java and the simulation. You need to tell your Apple product to allow
programs to download and run which don't come directly from the Apple Store.<br>
<br>
Alternatively, you can click on the "Download" button below the application. Then go to "Finder" and find the application. Then hold down the "control" key and click on the downloaded file (may need to drag to desktop first) and then, when the menu appears,
indicate open and allow the program to open.<br>
<br>
<u><b>Notebook<br>
</b><br>
</u>Your lab manual has a guided activity you will complete in lab. You must write your answers in the notebook, NOT your manual. Also, you cannot do the simulation outside of lab. You and your partner must answer the questions during the period. Because your
TA is grading a majority of this directly from your notebook pages, please make sure it is neat and organized.
