Nominations open for 2021 ASFW awards and scholarships
Each year, ASFW members have a wonderful opportunity to nominate deserving Ohio State faculty and staff who inspire others through their work and leadership.
We invite you to submit nominations for each of these awards:

Professional development is always important, and never more so than during this pandemic.

If you feel like your inner self gets sent to the back of the line when the next deadline, meeting or family obligation pops up, you’ll want to be at this event!

Our first keynote speaker of the day will be symposium namesake Dr. Deborah A. Ballam, a four-time Ohio State alumna and co-founder of The Women’s Place at The Ohio State University. With more than 30 years of dedicated service to Ohio State, Dr. Ballam, former associate provost for Women’s Policy Initiatives and director of The Women’s Place, has enhanced the lives of countless Buckeyes in the classroom and beyond — leading efforts to improve gender equity and inspiring positive change.

Let Her Out: Using Your Past to Look Ahead is the topic of the symposium’s two-part workshop. This interactive and inspiring workshop was created when author, professional coach and entrepreneur Natalie Siston<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/asfwohiostate.us8.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0b480cf9e4f47685017a2b12f&id=4aeee21e99&e=326db42284__;!!KGKeukY!iFUoZgZHD1Dzp2ouaqtMcvZ-T2LRx6SEIbC6HNsGPJFOQxdOjDxUSovzm_uts-gjVriG-g$> found the diaries she has written since she was 8. She was reminded that she has always been who she was meant to be, and her first book was inspired by this discovery. In the workshop, she’ll help you reach greater professional success and personal happiness by walking you through her journey of reclaiming her inner girl.

You will explore:

  *   Ideas and tactics to bring more fun and joy to your day-to-day
  *   The link between creativity and joy to success and productivity  
  *   Barriers that have been holding you back and how to overcome
Our virtual lunch features a well-being presentation titled Looking Ahead by Being F.I.Y.T. (Fearlessly Inspiring Yourself to Thrive) led by Shawnté Elbert, EdD, MCHES, CHWP, CWHC. Dr. Elbert is the associate vice president for Health and Well-being for Ohio State’s Office of Student Life. A strong advocate for historically marginalized and minoritized students, Dr. Elbert is an accomplished leader and student affairs administrator who has vast expertise in the areas of public health administration and education, wellness, peer education and leadership development.

In addition to the workshop and keynote speakers, the program includes award presentations, ASFW board introductions, partner spotlights and a networking opportunity for all interested attendees. Our signature event is a chance to focus on YOU.
