[All-extension] AEDE Announcement--Ben Brown

It is with pleasure and excitement that I announce effective July 1, 2019, Mr. Ben Brown will take on the position of Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in Agricultural Risk Management in the Department of Agricultural, Environmental, and Development Economics (AEDE).  Ben received his Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics and Agronomy from Kansas State University in 2015, and received his Master's Degree in Agricultural and Applied Economics from The University of Missouri in 2017.  He joined AEDE in the fall of 2017 in a new position of Farm Management Program Manager.  Over the past year and a half, Ben has quickly established himself as a go to resource for Ohio's agricultural community and decision makers.

In his new position of Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in Agricultural Risk Management, Ben will join the faculty of AEDE and continue his commitment to Ohio's agricultural community by creating a comprehensive teaching and extension program in the practice of agricultural risk management.

In this position, Ben will:


*       Integrate two key mission areas for AEDE and CFAES, teaching and extension education,

*       Integrate and translate appropriate AEDE faculty research outputs into the agricultural risk management program for use by AEDE instructors, extension educators and stakeholder groups, and

*       Act as a liaison between faculty in the AEDE Department who are conducting research on areas related to agricultural risk management and policy, and with OSU Extension faculty and field specialists throughout the state.

This new position reinforces AEDE's commitment to generating and disseminating reliable, trusted, and unbiased research-based knowledge for audiences both within and beyond the University's walls, and rewards and retains an outstanding educator for an impressive start to a young career at OSU.
