[All-extension] OSU Extension 4-H Program Review Is Underway

To build on the positive impacts and strong performance of Ohio State University Extension's 4-H Youth Development program, a voluntary review is underway.

A program review is a standard practice to evaluate the status, effectiveness, and progress of programs and helps identify future direction and priorities. This review will include an overview of the state of youth development in Ohio, an internal self-study report, crowdsourcing insights, external committee visits, and a final report outlining observations and insights.

The external committee members represent diverse perspectives of 4-H programs varying in size, scope, and geographic location. The committee members are: Dorothy Freeman, retired associate dean and state 4-H director, University of Minnesota Extension Center for Youth Development; Lisa Bouillion Diaz, 4-H assistant dean and director, University of Illinois Extension; Andy Turner, director, New York state 4-H youth development program, Cornell University; and Elizabeth Thomas, The Ohio 4-H Foundation board.

Initial work on the program review has started, and reports will be shared with the external review committee members prior to their April 1-2 meeting on campus. They will submit their final report by the end of April 2019. The project timing coincides with a national search for a new statewide leader.
