Grants and Contracts Specialist

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Extension Business Manager, manages and administers sponsored projects and non-traditional methods of funding for the Dept of Extension; plans, manages, and implements pre- and post-award activities; approves the assignment of personnel to the projects; reviews grants for inclusion of Extension in both the award and expenditure allocation of sponsored programs; administers and implements project budgets, analyzes and reconciles project fiscal reports, identifies and resolves project over-runs, and monitors and reviews project expenditures; serves as a liaison with Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Legal Affairs, CFAES Human Resources Service Center, Assistant/Associate Directors, and other offices concerning issues related to the development and management of non-traditional funds. This position works with Principle Investigtors (PIs) and OSP in the development of new projects, subcontracts, consultant agreements, and no-cost extension; ensures final grant awards are issued in accordance with negotiations. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; extensive experience in research administration and in grant/contract management; knowledge of, and experience with federal or private agency sponsors, contract/grant regulations, procurement, budgeting, accounting, and financial management. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree; experience as a sponsored program officer or similar position; knowledge of OSU systems, policies, and procedures.
