[ACVM] ACVM Policy Statements?

Dave, sorry for my slow response. I haven¹t seen much discussion re this
post, so I¹m weighing in even tho I¹m late. I think ACVM Diplomates
should be widely recognized as leading experts on issues related to
infectious disease in animals. Therefore I think it makes sense for
members of our College to provide information to the public on issues of
current relevance.

However, there are already some good sources of information like this: one
that springs to mind is the Center for Food Security and Public Health
(CFSPH) at Iowa State. There is a tremendous amount of useful information
on that website. So I don¹t think we need to duplicate information that
is already available from other trustworthy sources. But it seems to me
that there could be value in providing short, informative statements
regarding ³hot issues² that are aimed at non-specialists. These could be
posted on the College website. These might make their way into public
(electronic) discourse, and so would, I hope, be a source of good quality
information, and a way to improve public recognition of ACVM.

That¹s just one idea. I¹d like to hear what other diplomates think.

Peaceful holidays--

Amelia
