We have recently found evidence of Woolf’s purple pen in the Hogarth Press archives up to Feb 1940 - on the stock cards! Taking account of the figures… This is very exciting as it gives a real indication of Woolf’s presence at the Press and corroborates the
kind of information on figures she tracks in the diaries.

Dear All—
I have a question about Woolf’s use of purple ink. I have read Paula Maggio’s helpful reposting of Matthew Holliday’s twitter feeds about Bloomsbury inks. I want to know: did she use purple ink throughout her life? I know that the MS’s of Between the Acts
are largely typed rather than written. Did she use purple ink at any point in correcting the MS? Did she by any chance ever use a purple typewriter ribbon?
Mrs Dalloway holograph is in purple ink, right?
Thanks for the help.
