to have a seemingly endless, encyclopaedic knowledge of her life and work. His vigorous recall of facts and quotations made him an invaluable presence at the many lectures and conferences he attended over the years. Those of you who never met him in person
but only through his lively contributions to this list—or to the books he edited and articles he wrote—will have glimpsed his meticulous mind at work.</span><span style="font-size:13.5pt; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"></span></p>
