<div>In my portmanteau review of Cunningham’s THE HOURS (+Mitz+Mr. Dalloway+the holograph and typescript versions of JR and Mrs. D) a criticism was that though the fictional treatments included bibliographies—none of the novelists consulted primaries—including
the Wussow and the Ted Bishop holograph and typescript respectively.</div>

<div>A short time after the review was published in WSA, I met Cunningham at a Woolf conference (at UM/Baltimore, if memory serve) and he accused me of “trashing” the books under review......which was not the point at all.</div>

<div>Anyway, Vintage depends on the bottom line more than scholarly presses—and there will undoubtedly be a scene from the movie (maybe even Cunningham’s) on the cover.</div>

<div>Do you remember the night we were invited to a special showing of The Hours before it opened in NY and though we all had mixed reactions to it—we decided in the taxi 🚖 </div>
<div>we were taking to Jessica’s folks’ apartment uptown that we would always encourage films involving Woolf—even those with Nicole Kidman wearing a prosthetic nose.</div>
