Shiomi lives and works in London, but the imagery she uses often incorporates Japanese iconography.<br>Her approach is rooted in the Japanese ukiyo-e tradition of woodblock printmaking by hand, to which she has added her experimental techniques. This exhibition draws inspiration from Virginia Woolf’s book of the same name.<br>A book on her work, <em>This Side and the Other Side: Nana Shiomi, Woodcuts, 1996-2016, </em>was published in 2017. She is a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers and Japan Artists Association Inc.
