<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0">I am haunted by the phantom memory of Woolf saying somewhere that windflowers (anemones) were her mother's favorites.  I have extensively indexed the novels, diaries, letters, and many essays etc for flower references

 and cannot locate it.  Have I lost my mind, or can someone else put a finger on it?  (Just scanned Vanessa's Sketches and Leslie's Mausoleum Book as well.)</p>

<p style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0">Perhaps I made it up. Of course there are the two refs in Sketch of the Past -- to her mother's dress and the balloons in Kensington Gardens.  And there is a letter where she has a sentimental attachment to them.</p>
