which Lawrence incorporates Lady Ottoline as Hermione Roddice. VW read <I
style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Women in Love</I> as she was writing <I
style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">JR</I>, ‘lured on by the portrait of
Ottoline [. . .] She has just smashed Lawrence’s head open with a ball of lapis
lazuli – but then balls are smashed on every other page’ (<I
style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">L</I>2 474). </FONT></SPAN></DIV>
