Now I want to tell you about a book I've recently published that some of you might want to order and read. The book is about Shakespeare's late plays and was not published when it was written because a senior colleague wrote the press to say I had not written parts of it--utterly untrue. The manuscript stayed in a dark closet until about two years ago when I gold a dear friend about what happened.? She has supported making the work into an elegant little book. You may order it through Amazon books.? Search by my name (Toni McNaron) or by the title (/Live and Deal With Others Better--/a line some will recognize from "Cymbeline.") May I also ask you to tell friends/colleagues about my work if you are feeling generous? Let me close on a Woolfian note: stream the movie "A Magnificent Woman" if you haven't done so and see the deep bow to Woolf's /Orlando/. Message-ID: Dear All, We are delighted to announce the publication of The Edinburgh Companion to Women in Publishing, 1900-2020. This has been a long-running editorial project led by MAPP's co-directors Alice Staveley, Helen Southworth, Claire Battershill, Nicola Wilson, and Elizabeth Willson Gordon, with additional editors Marrisa Joseph, Daniela La Penna and Sophie Heywood. The book is the fruit of many years' collaboration and editorial labour, stemming from two international conferences we organised in 2019. The volume highlights the long history of women's work as editors and publishers, designers, booksellers, type drawers, illustrators, agents, and more. With thirty-three deeply-researched chapters, it goes beyond the Anglosphere and aims to define a new field of intersectional feminist approaches to book and publishing history. Ensure you trust the sender before opening any attachments or clicking * Leonard Woolf bus in Brighton * The Virginia Woolf Society of Great Britain is delighted to announce that Leonard Woolf will receive the honour of having a bus named after him in Brighton. Inspired by a chance encounter with the Virginia Woolf bus by Stephen Barkway, as reported in the January 2023 issue of the Virginia Woolf Bulletin, the campaign for a bus named after Leonard Woolf was led by the VWSGB's Marielle O'Neill, who is undertaking a PhD on Leonard and Virginia Woolf's political activism. Marielle acknowledges the backing of the VWSGB, especially Claire Nicholson (Chair), and Suren Paul (Chair of the Leonard Woolf Society). Thanks also to Maria Caulfield MP, Cllr Paul Mellor and the Board of Deputies of British Jews for their valuable support. The Virginia Woolf Society of Great Britain would like to thank Brighton & Hove Bus Company for honouring Leonard Woolf. Marielle O'Neill said: 'It's wonderful to see Leonard Woolf's great contribution to politics and publishing recognised. Given Leonard Woolf's activism in the local community and public-spirited nature it is particularly fitting that this tribute will benefit ordinary people in the Brighton area.' The bus to be named for Leonard Woolf is one of the brand new accessible Coaster buses, with two wheelchair bays, dementia-friendly flooring and seating, audio and visual next-stop announcements, and onboard loop system. The bus will be named in the next four to eight weeks and details will be added to the Brighton bus website. The vehicle number will be 717. The Leonard Woolf bus will join existing buses named after Virginia Woolf and Vanessa Bell (see the Brighton & Hove buses website at https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://history.buses.co.uk/history/fleethist/472vw.htm__;!!KGKeukY!y3uGuq7AetUXR08W6rDBE76V5gnsM-YNNgf3HYNxZmXGjwVztZXna_jbd2x-tMDEu6t2w7L6jMtG-_HrCs1TVdFBstQaTItu$ and https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://history.buses.co.uk/history/fleethist/671vb.htm__;!!KGKeukY!y3uGuq7AetUXR08W6rDBE76V5gnsM-YNNgf3HYNxZmXGjwVztZXna_jbd2x-tMDEu6t2w7L6jMtG-_HrCs1TVdFBsugJCq0R$ ). -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
