[Vwoolf] Woolf Google Stats

The stats for Blogging Woolf in January 2018 spiked dramatically as well -- the highest ever. Post likes were also the highest ever by far. I attribute both of those things to the post I wrote on the Google Doodle. Here's the link: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://bloggingwoolf.org/2018/01/25/a-google-doodle-and-more-on-the-occasion-of-virginia-woolfs-136th-birthday/__;!!KGKeukY!knQiQFdR4BAkkeLNsxbZYHK6N_l1DQ5Ax9eB1rhvr9YiivKs9jYTvBOKm-p5SgS9QrM$

Elisa, Marielle was first to share the Google results; I just made the remark about the Google Doodle. I was wondering why there was such a spike for Jan 2018 and thought it might have been when the Italian VWS was founded, but that was around May 2017, wasn't it?

Shame the figures don't go back as far as 1998, when the VWSGB was formed (beginnings of the internet), or 1976, for the IVWS (before widespread computer use). But let's not get into that or we could be here for some time . . .

However, a minor point of interest is that about the same number of people access the VWSGB Facebook page from Italy as from the US, a slightly lower number (but not much) than from the UK.

Dear Woolfians,

Some of you may be interested to know the Google Trends for Google
searches of Virginia Woolf.

See:

Apparently, Virginia Woolf is more searched for in Italy than elsewhere.

Warm wishes,
Marielle

Interesting that the spike in January 2018 is around the time of the

Humble apologies if this already came through the listserv...

VIRGINIA WOOLF AND POETRY
416pp. Oxford University Press. ?65.
Emily Kopley
***
Looks riveting:

"Telling the story of Woolf?s relationship with poetry"
*"In this book focusing on Virginia Woolf?s personal and professional
attitude towards poetry, Emily Kopley shines new light on the much-told
story of a writing life. She looks at how Woolf struggled to enjoy poetry
in adolescence and young adulthood, and explores how her deep-seated belief
in the superiority of prose began to change once she became a novelist,
reviewer and publisher." *
