Karen, that VWM issue is indeed so moving: not only the articles and your
wonderful intro but also yes, the reproduction of the artwork – thanks to
you and Vara! I used it teaching *Jacob's Room *earlier this semester...
and just a week later after students saying that those artworks helped them
imagine the world of WW1, which was beyond their comprehension, the
invasion of Ukraine began. It all felt quite uncanny and upsetting for
seniors who are graduating into a very different world. That NYT piece you
reference is truly a remarkable use of technology to consider Auden's
poetry.
