At the risk of seeming self-serving, I thought immediately of the artworks illustrating my introduction to the special issue of VWM on VW, Bloomsbury and the Great War (#91, Spring 2017).  It is accessible on line, thanks to Vara’s Herculean efforts, and where the artworks are seen in glorious color—like the Breughels in the NYTimes.
As we are heartsick over the war in Ukraine….
