Dear Woolfians,

The 1935 version of Freshwater will be performed by members of the Virginia Woolf Society of Great Britain in a Wintertide celebration of Woolf on Wednesday 15 December at 5.30pm GMT. The event is free but limited to members only. The play was performed on 18 January 1935 by the Bloomsbury Group, partly as a belated celebration of Angelica Bell's 16th birthday. Woolf was pleased with the play's reception by the dozens of Bloomsberries who crammed into the studio to see it, and she described the event as 'an unbuttoned laughing evening' (D4, 19 January 1935, p. 274). We hope that you will join us and feel free to unbutton and even laugh.

In a happy coincidence, Literature Cambridge is holding a virtual lecture on Freshwater with Ellie Mitchell on Saturday 18 December at 6pm GMT. Members of the Virginia Woolf Society of Great Britain can book at the reduced Student Rate of £23.
