</div><br><b>3) Upcoming US ED "Promise Neighborhoods" RFP release:</b> According to a 
June 21 update to the US Department of Education website, "Our current 
goal is to have applications for Promise Neighborhoods 
available within 2-4 weeks and be due within 60 days of application 
release."<br><br><b>4) Proposed changes to NSF "Broader Impacts":</b> Love it or hate it, people often have strong feelings about the National Science Foundation "Broader Impacts" merit review criterion. The National Science Board <a href="http://www.nsf.gov/nsb/publications/2011/06_mrtf.jsp">is accepting public comment</a> through July 14 on their proposed changes.<br>

<br><b>5) NSF CAREER Outreach Workshop video:</b> The April outreach workshop for prospective Ohio 
State applicants to NSF's Faculty Early <span><span class="il">Career</span></span> Development (<span><span class="il">CAREER</span></span>) 
program included an overview of OSU resources for education outreach and 
recruitment of REU students from underrepresented groups, as well as extended presentations by representatives of COSI (<a href="http://cosi.org/" target="_blank">http://cosi.org/</a>) and
 the Ohio House of Science and Engineering 
(<a href="http://ohse.chemistry.ohio-state.edu/" target="_blank">http://ohse.chemistry.ohio-state.edu/</a>) on how faculty can collaborate
