<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:black">West Virginia University Extension Service will hold an aquaponics workshop at Reymann Memorial Farm near Wardensville, W Va. on
</span><span style="font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">Friday, October 18. The objective of this workshop is to convey a practical understanding of aquaponics and highlight a cold flowing water aquaponic demonstration system.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"">Farmed fish release nutrients into the water creating an opportunity for aquaponic production of plants in the water leaving the fish tank. At Reymann Memorial
Farm we have shown this approach works in a spring fed flowing water system producing trout. Most other aquaponic systems are warm water recirculating systems. Ours is a cold flow-through system. Though nutrient concentration of the water coming from the
trout raceway is quite low, a variety of cool weather plants and salad greens have grown well on rafts.
