FREE Intensive Early Life Stage Fish Culture Workshop sponsored by the North Central Regional Aquaculture Center, USDA-NIFA, Southern Illinois University (SIU)-Carbondale, Purdue University, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility, Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant and the State of Illinois Aquaculture Association (flyer attached). This one-day workshop will focus on indoor intensive production of largemouth bass, yellow perch, and walleye- three commercially important regional aquaculture species. Topics that will be covered include indoor systems, egg acquisition, larval and fingerling rearing, and sustainable feeds. Speakers from various backgrounds-research, extension, commercial farming, and conservation -will share the good, the bad, and the ugly of raising young fish indoors. Workshop Participants will: * Learn tips and techniques for raising larval fish and fingerlings. * Learn how to spawn largemouth bass indoors. * Participate in industry-relevant discussions. * Find out how fish offal could hold the key to sustainable fish feeds. * Tour SIU's Aquaculture Research Lab.
