Individual grants are limited to $50,000. NCR-SARE expects to fund about 20 projects in the twelve-state North Central Region with this call. A total of approximately $1,000,000 is available for this program. Deadline NCR-SARE will be accepting online submissions for the Partnership Grant Program. More information about the online submission system can be found in the call for proposals. The deadline for Partnership Program proposals is October 20, 2022 at 4pm CDT. Partnership Zoom Session A Partnership Grant application Zoom will take place on September 12, 2022, at 2pm central time. NCR-SARE intends to record the zoom session and post it online here. Register for the zoom online at: https://umn.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJ0vcOygrzkjHdeNQm6DwOUQF3o_p8xkPFMI Funding Decisions NCR-SARE administers each of its grant programs with specific goals, audiences, and timelines. Funding considerations are based on how well the applicant presents the problem being addressed, its relevance to sustainable agriculture in the 12-state North Central region, farmer-rancher engagement in the project, and how well it aligns with NCR-SARE's goals. A regional Administrative Council (AC) makes funding decisions, with review from a grant review committee. The Administrative Council is a collection of producers, university representatives, nonprofit group interests, Extension and NRCS people, other government employees, and agribusiness representatives. This group sets research priorities and recommends projects for funding. Each state in SARE's North Central Region has one or more State Sustainable Agriculture Coordinators who can provide information and assistance to potential grant applicants. Interested applicants can find their State Sustainable Agriculture Coordinator online at https://northcentral.sare.org/state-programs/state-coordinators/. Questions? For questions or additional information regarding the Partnership Grant Program, contact Beth Nelson or Rob Myers at bethnelson at umn.edu or myersrob at missouri.edu. [Photo courtesy of the University of Minnesota.]With support from an NCR-SARE Partnership grant, Marie Raboin with Dane County Land Conservation was able to support and create intentional spaces for a group of farmers who were willing to take a chance on establishing and utilizing cover crops on their farms to improve soil health. ?This grant facilitated real change on a landscape scale by giving farmers the space to learn from one another and valuing the time of the experienced farmers,? said Raboin. ?The change that has occurred can be seen driving 55 mph down a county road. The difference can also be seen as the con?dence grows in a young group of farmers who want to improve water and soil quality on their farms. They are becoming leaders in their community.?
