[Sc-aquaponics] Julie Strawser (formerly Julie Moose) update

Many of you have had the pleasure of spending time over the years with Julie Strawser (formerly Julie Moose) as she worked with the OAA for a number of years in addition to her work at OSU Extension. Unfortunately, Julie has received some bad news. See below for an update from Julie. Please keep her in your thoughts.

Good morning,



Friday I finally received my diagnosis: cholangiocarcinoma. It is fairly aggressive and unfortunately incurable. I will begin chemo on Wednesday and have it every other week for six months.



The hope is that I may be approved for a new immunotherapy infusion that basically puts your immune system into hyper mode to attack the cancer cells. If approved, I will need these infusions every two weeks for the rest of my life. Living with this includes six months of chemo, six months off, six months chemo, etc.



My goal is to prove them wrong. Without treatment I have about six months. The average lifespan with treatment is about a year. That is unacceptable to me. I’m seeking a second opinion from the Cleveland Clinic.
