Sign up Now!!! Please further distribute to your aquaculture association and farming friends and neighbors. USDA?s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) wants recipients of the National Agricultural Classification Survey (NACS) to know that there is still time to respond. Mailed last December to more than a million potential U.S. agricultural producers, the NACS collects data on agricultural activity and basic farm information. These data will be used to build a survey recipient list for the 2022 Census of Agriculture. Response to the NACS is required by federal law for all who receive the questionnaire, even if the recipient is not an active farmer or rancher. Questionnaires can be completed securely online at agcounts.usda.gov, by mail or phone. The response deadline is extended to March 7. ?Filling out the NACS is one of the most important steps to determining who should receive the Census of Agriculture questionnaire this fall,? said Census and Survey Division Director Barbara Rater. ?The influential Census of Agriculture dataset is used by many ? from local and federal governments, to educators, researchers, agribusinesses, media and more ? impacting decisions that affect producers, their farms, families, communities, industries, and the nation. Every producer should have a voice. Through the ag census, their voices will help shape the future of American agriculture. Ag producers who did not receive a NACS and do not currently receive USDA censuses and surveys can sign up to be counted at agcounts.usda.gov/getcounted. All information reported to NASS is kept confidential, protected by federal law. To learn more about NACS and the Census of Agriculture, visit nass.usda.gov/go/nacs. Visit the NAA website for... Date: Tue, 15 Feb 2022 18:15:00 +0000 Subject: [Sc-aquaponics] Request: Seafood HACCP training participants In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: All, Last reminder to sign up by the end of day on the 18th if you're interested in participating in Seafood HACCP training. Regards, ?Matt ________________________________ Ohio Farmers, Kwamena Quagrainie (Purdue and IL IN Sea Grant), Amy Shambach (Purdue and IL IN Sea Grant), and Pratik Banerjee (Univ. of Illinois) received funding from the North Central Regional Aquaculture Center to support the processing of seafood in the Midwest. They asked me to reach out to farmers who may be interested in participating in their project. They are currently recruiting farmers who are interested in processing their seafood. They will arrange a 2-day Seafood HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) training for those who wish to participate. Since it is a regional project, location of the farmers will determine how many training sessions there will be and where they will hold the trainings. Training costs will be paid by the NCRAC project. After the training, they would like the participants to move forward with processing to develop a product. The farmers will play a key role in helping to identify local processing facilities such as a seafood processing facility, commercial kitchen, butcher shop, restaurants, etc. who are interested in renting out space for fish processing. They will work with the farmers along the process to develop a product and a market. If you are highly interested and willing to commit to the process, please complete this survey by end of day February 18th, 2022. I will share the list with Kwamena and this team, and they will select the farmers who will participate. https://bit.ly/3B5V04b Please contact Kwamena (kquagrai at purdue.edu), Amy (ashambac at purdue.edu), or Pratik (pratik at illinois.edu) if you have any questions about the process. This project is sponsored by USDA-NIFA North Central Regional Aquaculture Center, award #2016-38500-25753. Regards, ?Matt [The Ohio State University] Matthew A.
