[Sc-aquaponics] Request: Seafood HACCP training participants

Ohio Farmers,

Kwamena Quagrainie (Purdue and IL IN Sea Grant), Amy Shambach (Purdue and IL IN Sea Grant), and Pratik Banerjee (Univ. of Illinois) received funding from the North Central Regional Aquaculture Center to support the processing of seafood in the Midwest. They asked me to reach out to farmers who may be interested in participating in their project.

They are currently recruiting farmers who are interested in processing their seafood. They will arrange a 2-day Seafood HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) training for those who wish to participate. Since it is a regional project, location of the farmers will determine how many training sessions there will be and where they will hold the trainings. Training costs will be paid by the NCRAC project.

After the training, they would like the participants to move forward with processing to develop a product. The farmers will play a key role in helping to identify local processing facilities such as a seafood processing facility, commercial kitchen, butcher shop, restaurants, etc. who are interested in renting out space for fish processing. They will work with the farmers along the process to develop a product and a market.
