While not everyone will raise trout the same way, this is a good short educational video for those who may be interested in trout production. If you're buying fingerlings, it's good to know the process up to the time you receive them. If you want to raise eggs to fingerlings, here is a process. Keep in mind that state/fed/tribal hatcheries may do things very different than private industry due to funding, education, orders from above, etc.

Did you know, according to the last Census of Aqua, the U.S. had 334 rainbow trout foodfish farms valued at >$116million in farm-gate? The total foodfish poundage was over 49 million pounds. There were also 158 farms that sold stockable fish and 66 farms that sold fingerlings or fry. Almost 80 of the 334 farms are in the North Central Region.
