Subject: [All-agnr] Opening Agritourism Farms for Fall & Christmas Seasons

Greetings –

We have a forthcoming bulletin that is in the final review stages, but opening dates are approaching quickly for our farmers focusing on the fall season. Thus, we’ve written a general guidance article on beginning conversations with county health departments to get the ball rolling for those farms who have not yet spoke with their health departments. We’ve also linked the Responsible RestartOhio requirements for the four areas that most affect our agritourism industry in Ohio. These will be a good start to help Ohio farmers get their plans in place. We hope to have a final bulletin to share with you and Ohio farmers in the coming days. Until then, please direct them to the article at this link:

Additionally, farmers can subscribe to the Ohio Ag Manager blog – the site the article is posted on – to be updated when the bulletin is posted and where we will post updates from the state of Ohio, CDC and others.

Other information to assist agritourism and direct marketers as they prepare for a busy fall season:

1. A one-stop-shop for farm markets, the public and more – http://go.osu.edu/foodfarmsafe - This has produce safety guidance, videos, webinars for pick-your-own safety, farmers market info and more.

2. A printable poster for proper removal of disposable gloves – http://go.osu.edu/glovesafe - Also, yes, you can sanitize reusable gloves with hand sanitizer. Many sanitizers have this on the label. But, gloves which are visibly dirty should be washed before using sanitizer again. Dispose if any holes or weak areas in the gloves.

3. A printable poster for proper removal of reusable gloves- http://go.osu.edu/glovesafe2

Please share this information with your farmers and clientele who can benefit as they prepare for the fall season and the Christmas tree season in Ohio.

Thanks for your help,

-Eric
