All, please see the reminder for the COVID-19 Quarter 2 survey being conducted by Virginia Tech and Ohio State. We only had 49 participants from the entire 12 state Midwest region for Quarter 1. I would love to see that number doubled this go around! It doesn’t take a lot of time, and everyone involved in the survey (myself included) would appreciate your time and effort.

Please post or share this request. You are more than welcome to substitute your organization name and message to encourage participation.  Attached is a summary of the 1st quarter survey published in the Journal of the World Aquaculture Society.


The National Aquaculture Association requests that aquaculture farms and businesses participate in the COVID-19 economic impact survey being conducted by economists with The Ohio State University and Virginia Tech. They are collecting information about how your farm or business has been affected by this pandemic. This effort is being repeated quarterly to try and capture the evolving impacts of coronavirus disease on U.S. aquaculture, aquaponics, and allied businesses.

Please participate in each of the quarterly national surveys during 2020. Even if you have not been negatively affected, that data is important to capturing the full effects of pandemic management efforts. Please click on this link to the Quarter 2survey, covering the period from April 10th, 2020 to June 29th, 2020.

Please provide your responses based on the period of time between April 10th, 2020 and June 29th, 2020. This survey should take about 25 minutes to complete. No personally identifiable information (name, address, e-mail, telephone number, IP address, etc.) will be collected. All data from this survey will remain anonymous.

This survey is being supported by funding from the National Sea Grant Office and the National Marine Fisheries Service. There are no benefits or rewards for participating in this study. Results from this study may be used to communicate the effects of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on commercial aquaculture, aquaponics or allied businesses to State and Federal agencies, in an effort to secure relief. Results from this study may also be published in the future.

Participation in this research survey is voluntary. By continuing with this survey, you are consenting to the use of your responses for research purposes. If you do not consent for your responses to be used for research purposes, please discontinue this survey by closing the browser window.

This survey will close at 11:59 pm (eastern time) on July 17, 2020.
