The global feed and food supply chain has been materially impacted by COVID-19 and the aquaculture industry is no exception. In an effort to support our partners throughout the global aquaculture production and supply chain, USSEC, in collaboration with our industry partners, is hosting a virtual conference to update the aquaculture industry and supply chain on recent developments in the face of the current COVID-19 pandemic. Jim Sutter joined the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) as Chief Executive Officer in 2010 after over 30 years of industry experience with Cargill, Inc. Since joining USSEC Sutter has led strategy development to ensure that the organization’s key focus is on differentiating and building a preference for U.S. Soy. Key initiatives have included building on the competitive advantage of U.S. Soy’s sustainability, improving the partnership with China in the area of sustainable food security, and demonstration of the intrinsic and extrinsic advantages of U.S. soy to customers around the globe. Jim is also actively working with various industry associations around the world on behalf of U.S. Soy. He grew up on a crop and cattle farm in northeastern Colorado, received a degree in Agricultural Business/Economics from Colorado State University. Jim has worked and lived in numerous global locations and now makes his home in St. Louis, Missouri.

In his state, Peterson serves as a director on the North Dakota Soybean Growers Association (NDSGA), where he is on the Legislative Committee. Peterson is a member of the Agricultural Advisory to the Commodity Futures Trade Commission (CFTC), is past chairman of the North Dakota Soybean Council (NDSC), and still serves on their Marketing Committee. He is a past board member of the North Central Soybean Research Program (NCSRP).Peterson and his wife Penny have two daughters and two granddaughters.

President, Global Aquaculture Alliance
Dr. George Chamberlain started his aquaculture career in 1975 in the academic sector, where he served as a researcher, instructor, and Extension Specialist after completing his Master’s and Ph.D. degrees at Texas A&M University. In 1990, he moved to the corporate sector, where he directed the aquaculture programs at Ralston Purina International and Monsanto. In 1999, he entered the private sector, where he developed shrimp breeding and farming operations in Malaysia, Brunei, and Hawaii through a company now known as Kona Bay. Recognizing the benefits he had received from colleagues and mentors throughout his career, Chamberlain volunteered for the professional sector in 1990 as a Board member and eventually President of the World Aquaculture Society. In 1997, he helped found the Global Aquaculture Alliance and continues to serve as President.

Since joining Rabobank in 2005, Gorjan Nikolik has been a Senior Analyst focusing on the global seafood sector including aquaculture, wild-catch, seafood trade and processing. In his primary role, he works as a sector expert to Rabobank departments such as Mergers & Acquisitions, Leveraged Finance, Venture Capital, Credit Risk Management and the Corporate Finance Bankers. He is a regular speaker on global seafood and aquaculture conferences and has published research reports covering the seafood industry. He also has experience as a commodity analyst having covered the sugar industry. Gorjan holds a Master’s degree in Finance and Business Administration from the University of Maastricht and an MBA from Maastricht School of Management.
