All,

First, let me wish all of you a very happy and safe holiday season!

I want to remind you of the upcoming 2018 Ohio Aquaculture & Fish
Management Conference.  This joint conference by the Ohio Aquaculture
Association and the Ohio Chapter of the American Fisheries Society will be
held Friday-Saturday, January 26-27, 2018 at the Quest Conference Center
just northeast of Columbus.  I've attached the final schedule for your
review.  Please note that the early bird registration for both OAA and
non-OAA members is January 12, 2018.  After that date registration is $50
more.  Registration can be done at the OAA website www.ohioaquaculture.org
under the events tab.

I also want to make you aware that Matt Smith, Aquaculture Extension
Specialist, at OSU South Centers is planning a free Thursday, January 25
evening gathering at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel at Polaris (also the
Conference Hotel) from 7-9 PM.  The purpose of this meeting is to bring all
interested aquatic culturists together to discuss how to advance the food
fish industry in Ohio.  There will be no formal presentations; just
discussion. A number of OAA Board members and conference speakers will be
present Thursday evening as will Paul Zajicek, Executive Director of the
National Aquaculture Association.  This will be a great opportunity to
network and discuss the future of Ohio aquaculture. Please RSVP to this
event by emailing ohioaquaculture at gmail.com with your name and putting
"Round Table" in the subject heading.

Because this is a joint meeting with OCAFS and there is the special
Thursday night gathering,  I encourage you to register soon for the
conference but perhaps more importantly, reserve your hotel room if you
need one.  Hotel rooms can be reserved by calling the Sheraton Four Points
at 614-844-5888 <(614)%20844-5888> and be sure to mention the OAA for the
discount. Please take a few minutes this week and register for the
conference and reserve your hotel room.  Again, this may not be the year to
procrastinate!
