Online aquaculture courses at Brunswick Community College

Brunswick Community College is once again offering a series of four online aquaculture courses through our Division of Continuing Education, including a course in Aquaponics, the combination of recirculating aquaculture and hydroponic plant production:

Intro to Aquaculture
Advanced Aquaculture, Part 1
Advanced Aquaculture, Part 2
Aquaponics/Sustainable Agriculture

There are no prerequisites, and courses may be taken in series or simultaneously. Intro to Aquaculture and Aquaponics/Sustainable Agriculture are both designed to be introductory courses.

All courses begin January 26 and end May 3. These 14 week courses each require about 5.5 hours per week, for a total of 77 hours of instruction per course. All are self-paced and available online through the college's Moodle server 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This makes it possible for the student to tailor each course to fit their own schedule and to suit their individual needs. Cost is $180 per course. The instructor is Dr. Doug Holland, who holds a PH.D. from the School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences at Auburn University, and has been teaching aquaculture for more than 20 years.

For additional information or to register for these courses, please visit our departmental website:
