for this experiment; the TAs do not need to do anything with the vacuum pump. Be sure the vacuum control knob in the second-floor window (by the fire extinguisher) is in the “auto” position We will also be using the ovens; they open by pulling the bottom of
the handle up towards the ceiling- no rotating required. We strongly encourage TAs and students to keep the oven doors closed as much as possible. This helps with heat loss.</span></p>

readiness checks by those completing them. When swapping out the blue carboys, check the fill level of the spill tray. Let us know if it’s more than half full. Partially filled bottles of lemon and lime juice should be placed in the fridge. We will periodically
combine these. When doing a gather, please check the fridge first for full bottles of lemon and lime juice. If you need more than what is available in the fridge, please grab new bottles from aisle 28. No partial bottles of lemon or lime juice should be left
in aisle 28. Unopened bottles of lemon and lime juice from carts checks should be placed back on the shelf in aisle 28.</span></p>

in the kit to help distinguish between iron and zinc electrodes. The students will be sanding the oxidation layer off the electrodes with emery paper/cloth. This should be done on the provided cover stock; the cover stock should be placed on the provided black
plastic tray. The whole sanding procedure should be done under a snorkel. Each room has been provided with 7 trays since they only have 7 snorkels. We will not provide more.
