<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Buckeye Sans 2"">Solid reagents will be handed out from the lab support windows. These are provided in class sets and should be picked up by the TA before lab starts. Do not give out partial sets at the start of
lab. We’ll be using the vacuum ports for this experiment; the TAs do not need to do anything with the vacuum pump. Be sure the vacuum control knob in the second-floor window (by the fire extinguisher) is in the “auto” position We will also be using the ovens;
they open by pulling the bottom of the handle up towards the ceiling- no rotating required. We strongly encourage TAs and students to keep the oven doors closed as much as possible. This helps with heat loss. When doing lab readiness checks, please verify
that a box of P5 filter paper is present on the reagent cart. If not, grab one from the window.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

volumetric flasks will be on the bench next to Hood A. These items should be returned after use. Be prepared to replace volumetric flasks, they occasionally get broken. As a reminder, if any pipet pumps with glass stuck in them (or “leaky” pipet pumps) are
returned to the window, please put them in the appropriate labeled bin.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

things start to get low- this goes for all items on the window cart, not just the items being used for LLT. The 0.44 M NaOH carboy should be kept on the special carboy spill tray. Blue square carboys of 0.44 M NaOH should be swapped out during the lab readiness
checks by those completing them. When swapping out the blue carboys, check the fill level of the spill tray. Let us know if it’s more than half full.</span><b><span style="font-family:"Buckeye Sans 2";color:#212121"><o:p></o:p></span></b></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Buckeye Sans 2"">There will be some rooms with a mix of old (black cable) and new (white wire) probes, and some rooms with only new (white cable) probes. The probes with the black cables will need to be attached
to the top of the meters whereas the new probes will need to be attached to the probe and meter via the supplied white cables.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Buckeye Sans 2"">Connections are made on the top of the meter by pushing and turning. Both pH probe types will have either a black o-ring or blue rubber piece at the top of the probe shaft to cushion it from the
glass storage tube and help seal in the storage solution. These should stay at the top of the probes while the students are taking readings. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
