<b>Katherine M. Weimer</b>, who received her PhD in 1943. Her advisor was Prof. Marion Llewellyn Pool and her thesis was entitled "Artificial Radioactivity of Barium and Lanthanum." Katherine spent twenty-nine years with the theory group at Princeton Plasma
Physics Laboratory. </span><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#0A0A0A;background:white">In 2001, the APS Division of Plasma Physics established the
<b>Katherine E. Weimer Award </b>to "recognize and encourage outstanding achievement in plasma science research by a woman physicist in the early years of her career.</span><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#0A0A0A">”</span><o:p></o:p></p>
