<p class="MsoNormal">The Department provides the following cautionary comments and recommendations in preparation for an extended 3-day weekend with corresponding severe weather forecasts:<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">1.) As temperatures approach -4 deg F (-20 deg C), the risk of an unplanned lab-side air handler shutdown increases due to freeze protection systems inherent to the equipment.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">2.) OSU Maintenance staff coverage on weekends is limited. Extended weekends and difficult road conditions for commuting staff exacerbate this condition.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">1.) To the extent practical, avoid initiating processes in fume hoods involving significant chemistries. Users will know best how to define significant.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">2.) Avoid using the liquid nitrogen filling station (LADS) in fully unattended mode. Filling can proceed as needed, but users are advised to actively monitor the filling cycle.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">3.) Avoid initiating specific experiments that are long in time span and critically dependent on environmental stability (temperature/humidity/air flow).<o:p></o:p></p>
