>From Daniel Y.C. Fung of Kansas State University

Congratulations to Dr. Richard Linton for a great opportunity to be the DEAN to lead the Food Science Enterprise at the wonderful North Carolina State University!

I was a student at the University of North Carolina--Chapel Hill many, many moons ago and love the people and the environment there greatly. No doubt Richard will move a wonderful program at North Carolina State University into a world renowned Center of Excellence in Agriculture as well as Integrated Sciences to make the world a better place through Teaching, Research, and Extension in Agriculture.in NCSU.

Best wishes for a wonderful start of another great chapter in Dr. Richard Linton's already super Distinguished Career!!!

Sincerely,

Daniel Y. C. Fung

Colleagues and Friends,

A few weeks ago, I was offered a “once-in –a-lifetime” opportunity to take on a new challenge and to serve as Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at North Carolina State University. NC State has one of the largest agriculture-based colleges in the nation, with over 420 faculty, 600 staff, and 6200 students. North Carolina ranks 8 th in the US in agricultural-based commodities and products.

After a very long and difficult decision, my family and I have decided that this is too great of an opportunity to pass by. We have decided to take on the new challenge, and, I will begin my new job in September. In the next few weeks, I will be working with college administration as we go through this leadership transition.

My tenure as Department Chair of the Department of Food Science and Technology at THE Ohio State University has been a tremendously fulfilling experience, both professionally and personally. I have enjoyed the many opportunities that this great university and state have provided. And, the friendships and spirit connected with this university will be forever remembered. I thank you all for being a part of my life.

I will be doing all I can to make this transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly.

As contact information (email, phone) becomes available at NC State, I will be sure to pass this forward to you.

GO BUCKS!

Richard Linton
